For same-sex male couples who dream of a child, surrogacy is a real and legal path to parenthood — with a biological bond to their own child. This possibility exists and has been successfully used for many years: thousands of male couples around the world have become parents through surrogacy programmes. Today it is no longer an exception, but an established process with clear medical and legal stages.
How it works
The embryos are created using donor eggs and the sperm of one or both partners. Within a single programme, the sperm of both partners can be used — allowing embryos to be created from each of them, and in some cases genetically related children for both. The resulting embryos are transferred to the surrogate or surrogates, who carry the pregnancy.
Registration of the child
The child is registered in the name of one of the parents and of the surrogate.
The programme step by step
- Consultation — assessment of the medical and legal situation, selection of a suitable jurisdiction
- Selection of an egg donor — from a database of screened, healthy donors
- Creation of embryos — IVF using the sperm of one or both partners
- Selection of a surrogate — following medical and psychological screening
- First visit — Bratislava, Slovakia (freezing of biological material, signing of documents)
- Pregnancy — medical supervision and regular updates throughout the entire term
- Birth in Europe — processing of the documents for the child and departure
