The opportunity of giving birth in Europe makes it much easier for some patients to register and depart with their baby, thus avoiding a lot of bureaucracy and significantly reducing the time the family has to spend away from home.

For example, Spanish citizens have to confirm their genetic relationship with a child at the Consulate of their country in Ukraine or in Georgia, which extends the waiting period for DNA testing results to 3 months or even more. Meanwhile, in case of birth in any EU-member state, the registration procedure occurs in a matter of days, following which you and your baby can leave the country of birth, while the legalization of the baby can be accomplished at the parents’ permanent place of residence.

Besides, many patients can’t afford long absences from their jobs, while it usually takes 2-3 weeks to get the necessary travel documents. In this case, giving birth in Europe would also greatly simplify things.

We often choose Poland, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia as countries for childbirth. These are the closest countries to Ukraine and the most affordable in the EU; in addition, depending on the insurance coverage, some parents are reimbursed at least part of the cost of giving birth in an EU country.

Upon request of future parents, childbirth can also take place in other European countries; for example, in the past year, there were three surrogacy programs followed by planned childbirths in Germany and Spain.
