Some paths to parenthood are longer than others. The story of a German family who came to us shows what becomes possible when medical care, legal clarity and the courage not to give up come together — and what a surrogate mother programme can achieve today.
When your own story feels almost over
A German couple came to our centre after many years of unsuccessful attempts to have a child. The wife had already gone through several rounds of IVF, without success. Doctors identified the main causes as the future mother’s age and the father’s medical history — he had previously undergone chemotherapy for cancer.
The chances of a biological child were considered extremely low. The couple refused to give up — and so did we.
Our shared path
The first attempts in the programme were difficult. Several embryo transfers with different surrogate mothers ended without pregnancy, and one pregnancy turned out to be ectopic. Only lower-quality embryos remained, with no possibility of genetic testing or sex selection.
The decision was made to perform a double transfer: the two remaining embryos were transferred at the same time to two different surrogates. It wasn’t a guaranteed solution — it was a carefully considered medical chance, carried by hope.
Both pregnancies took hold. A true miracle.
Two children, the same parents, two different pregnancies
Two children were conceived at the same time, by the same parents, but carried by two different surrogate mothers. Genetically, they are siblings; biologically, they were brought into the world through two parallel paths.
The first, a boy, was born prematurely at thirty weeks. The parents couldn’t travel immediately. Our doctors and nurses cared for the little patient in our clinic until he grew into a strong, healthy boy with big blue eyes.
Two months later, his sister was born. She was with her parents from her very first days.
Three years later
Three years later, the couple came back to us to give a chance to the last two embryos from the same batch. Today, their family is complete:
- the older boy — full of energy and curiosity,
- his sister — born two months after him, right by his side,
- the youngest sister — born three years later, currently learning to walk.
What this story shows
Outcomes like this are rare, but they aren’t a matter of luck. They become possible when every part of a programme comes together: a realistic medical assessment, a clear legal structure, and coordination that doesn’t break down even when the path turns out to be longer than expected.
International surrogacy today means exactly that: a structured path to parenthood, guided clearly on both the medical and legal sides. The programme runs within a clear legal framework, the biological father is entered on the birth certificate right away, and the child stays with the parents from the moment of discharge. The legal status of the second parent is settled under the law of the country of residence.
Believing in miracles — and in persistence
From years of disappointment to a family of three children: this story proves that miracles happen when science, hope and love come together — and when no one gives up at the decisive moments.
